HUMILITY, THE KEY TO THE KINGDOM

TOPIC: HUMILITY, THE KEY TO THE KINGDOM
TEXT: MATTHEW 5:1-12
MEMORY VERSE: “Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.” – Matthew 5:3

‘Blessed are the poor’, the poor here means somebody who decided to make himself/herself poor (nothing) for something greater/better. It is not that s/he is not somebody, but to gain something, s/he decided to take a poor form (humble position) hence Jesus said, “Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the Kingdom of heaven (God)”. Let us look at Christ example and how He fits in into this verse: Jesus had already shared glory with God before the world began, in His departing words, He looked unto the Heaven and prayed (in John 17:5), He said, “And now, O Father, glorify thou me with thine own self with the glory which I had with thee before the world was“; but the Lord Jesus left this glory (and His throne) to save mankind, He was so rich and wealthy but in order to save you and I; He became poor. 2 Corinthians 8:9 says, “For ye know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that, though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, that ye through his poverty might be rich.”

Apostle Paul was admonishing the Philippians and he gave the example of Jesus, Who being in the form of God (So rich with authority), thought it not robbery to be equal with God: but made himself of no reputation (became poor), and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men: and being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross. Jesus made himself of no reputation, His name was not mentioned in the beginning of the world, even though through Him the world was made, he took the form of a servant to gain additional glory (remember: theirs is the Kingdom of heaven). Due to His humility, since His death on the cross, yesterday, today and forever, every knee must bow and every tongue must confess that Jesus is the Lord. God has highly exalted Him, given Him a name that above every other name. Jesus had a name before He came to the world but for making himself of no reputation (became poor in spirit), God gave Him a greater name, the name, Jesus – Philippians 2:1-11.

Satan wanted to enthrone himself above God, he lost his throne and glory, he thought he was rich in spirit and the kingdom of heaven never his. Are you enduring persecution, hardship, suffering in that your department? Never mind, it for you to gain the Kingdom, therefore, humbles yourself. You know your class but you must declass, make yourself of no reputation so as to enter into the Kingdom of God, which is the ultimate goal. Whosoever you are, never rob shoulder with your leader, your boss or pastor; they may not be your mate in age, size, experience, exposure, and finance; but like Jesus said to John when the later forbad him, Jesus understood leadership and authority, He said, “Suffer it to be so now: for thus it becometh us to fulfil all righteousness” – Matthew 3:14,15. Whatever God is using you for or do in your officce, wherever, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men. Man can only pay you salary, it will take God to pay your wages (Read James 4:6; Proverbs 29:23; Mark 10:15). Humility is the key to the Kingdom.

Word Affirmation: “The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirit. Amen" - Philemon 1:25 (Don't just say it, mean it!)

“ Whosoever you are, never rob shoulder with your leader. "
