From Disappointment to Divine Encounter

Life doesn’t always go the way we plan. We hope for a breakthrough, and it doesn’t come. We expect healing, but the sickness lingers. We pray for open doors, and instead, we face closed ones. That’s where the two disciples were on the road to Emmaus - deep in disappointment. They had believed Jesus was the One who would redeem Israel. But now, Jesus was gone, and their hope seemed buried with Him. What they didn’t know was that right in their disappointment, Jesus showed up. Quietly, calmly, He walked with them - even when they didn’t recognise Him.

God often shows up in moments when we least expect Him - especially in our sadness, confusion, and discouragement. He doesn't always come with fireworks or loud announcements. Sometimes He just walks beside us, patiently waiting for us to see that He’s been there all along. The disciples' divine encounter didn’t start with a miracle. It started with a conversation. That’s how God often works. He meets us where we are - right in the middle of our mess - and gently opens our eyes through His Word and His presence.

So if you’re facing disappointment today, know this: it’s not the end of the story. Invite Jesus into your sadness. Let Him walk with you, talk with you, and show you things you hadn’t seen before. He still turns disappointment into divine encounters. You may not recognise Him at first, but He’s there - closer than you think.

Word Affirmation: “The Lord is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart; and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit.” (Psalm 34:18) (KJV) (Don't just say it, mean it!)

"Disappointment is often the doorway Jesus uses to meet us personally."
