BUT OF GOD’S ABILITY

When we speak of the ability of God, we are speaking of the power of God. God’s people have always believed that God is able. In Daniel 3 the king of Babylon made a decree that all the people should bow before his image. The three young Hebrew men—Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego—refused to do so. When they were brought before the king, he reminded them of the consequences of failing to obey the decree. That was when the young men gave this reply: “O Nebuchadnezzar, we are not careful to answer thee in this matter. If it be so, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and he will deliver us out of thine hand, O king.”

Another outstanding example of how demonstrated His ability is when Abraham was ordered by God to offer his son Isaac as a sacrifice (Genesis 22). We stand amazed at Abraham’s faith. How was Abraham able to obey God? It was the writer of Hebrews that tells us how: “By faith Abraham, when he was tested, offered up Isaac; . . . He considered that God is able to raise men even from the dead” (Hebrews 11:17–19a). Abraham believed in a God who could do anything!

In the days of Isaiah and Hezekiah, we have an example of a pagan who doubted Jehovah’s ability. Sennacherib, king of the Assyrians, had swept through the Northern Kingdom, destroying everything before him. Now he was at the gates of Jerusalem—and he sent this sneering message to the people of Jerusalem: Do you not know what I and my fathers have done to all the peoples of the lands? Were the gods of the nations of the lands able at all to deliver their land from my hand? . . . How much less shall your God deliver you from my hand? (2 Chronicles 32:13–15). Was Sennacherib right? Was God unable to deliver His people? Note verse 21: “And the Lord sent an angel who destroyed every mighty warrior, commander and officer in the camp of the king of Assyria. So he re-turned in shame to his own land. And when he had entered the temple of his god, some of his own children killed him there with the sword. Sennacherib had to learn the hard way that God was indeed able!

Is your God able? If He was able in the past, He is now, tomorrow and always. He has more than a million ways to answer one single prayer. Are you believing God for a thing? God is more than able to give you a hope and an expected end. The writer of Hebrews gave us the secret to Abraham’s receiving back his (dead) child, he said by FAITH. The three young Hebrews demonstrated their STRONG COURAGE in their God. You too need to act the same. If the other gods, lesser gods of those countries could not defend their own, not the God of Israel, He always come to raise help for His own; Sennacherib can tells better.

Word Affirmation: “ If it be so, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and he will deliver us out of thine hand, O king." - Daniel 3:17 (Don't just say it, mean it!)

“ God has more than a million ways to answer one single prayer. "
