The Supremacy of Christ

The Supremacy of Christ

Christ is not just the founder of Christianity; He is the reason everything exists, both things in heaven and on earth. Colossians 1:15 - 20 paints a powerful picture of Jesus as the visible image of the invisible God. This means when you see Jesus, you see God in form, nature, and essence. He is before all creation and holds it all together. That includes the planets, angels, and even your life. Many people think of Jesus only as the baby born in a manger or the man who walked the streets of Galilee, but Paul shows us the cosmic picture, Jesus is God who created everything and now reigns above all. He is not secondary to the Father; He is one with Him in power, glory, and being.

In these verses, Paul also makes it clear that everything was created by Him, through Him, and for Him. That means you are not an accident. You exist because Jesus created you for His purpose. He is not just the beginning of creation; He is also the head of the church, which is His body. Just as your brain gives signals to your body, Jesus gives life and direction to the church. His resurrection from the dead makes Him the first in everything, even over death itself. Nothing is above Jesus, not governments, not sickness, not powers of darkness. When you wake up each morning, remember you’re walking with the One who holds the entire universe in His hand.

Paul ends this portion by saying God was pleased to have all His fullness live in Christ and to use Him to make peace with everything in heaven and on earth. This peace came through Christ’s blood on the cross. That’s the core of our faith, Jesus didn’t just create us, He also died to reconcile us. He brought peace between God and mankind by paying the price for our sins. So whether you’re in a season of peace or pain, remember: the One who rules over everything is also the One who gave everything for you. Trust Him, worship Him, and live every day under His lordship.

Word Affirmation: (Isaiah 46:4, KJV) "And even to your old age I am he; and even to hoar hairs will I carry you: I have made, and I will bear; even I will carry, and will deliver you." (KJV) (Don't just say it, mean it!)

Personalise: I am created, carried, and sustained by the One who reigns over all creation.

“Jesus is not one among many; He is the One above all.”
