HOW TO SURVIVE BAD TIMES (1)

The headlines may be scary, you do not sure of what next and how to navigates the road ahead. Bad times may have come into one's live and think no one cares. Relax; it is for your own good. Life is full of ups and downs and the world is full of troubles but Jesus said, “be of good cheers, I have overcome the world.” So how do you navigate the bad times or what do you do when you do not know what to do? Note these ten do’s and don’ts for surviving the hard times:

1. Don’t be surprise when bad times come. Even when you are doing your best, bad times may still show up. The curve may be at the edge of the straight line, arm yourself with this truth. Even when God is with you, the bad times may come. God was with David every step of the way, bad times still come. Jesus was in the boat yet the storm came, the storm did not refuse to come because the Lord was inside the boat. Troubles have no respecter of person.

After killing Goliath, David was made the commander of a thousand but when those women sang, his troubles started and his boss who appreciates his presence before, now became his sworn enemy. Saul pursued David and the Bible says, “Thus Saul was David’s enemy continually” (18:29). The NIV has “he remained his enemy the rest of his days.”Can you imagine having a father-in-law who wants you dead? When the bad times came, perhaps you, too, cried out, “What have I done to deserve this?” The point is that David had done nothing to deserve Saul’s hatred—but still the bad times came.

David was doing his best physically and spiritually and the Lord was with him in all he did. Still the bad times came. If it happened to the man after God’s own heart, it can happen to anyone. You can be an elder, a deacon, a preacher, or a Bible class teacher—and your children can get on drugs and break your heart. You can be a loving Christian wife or husband, doing all you can to make your marriage work, and your mate can leave you for someone else. You can be an honest Christian businessman, doing your best to make your business a success, and you can lose everything. You can be a faithful Christian, putting your heart and soul into serving God, and the doctor can tell you, “You have three months to live.” Don’t misunderstand me. Being a faithful Christian will improve your opportunities to have a good marriage, a happy home, and even financial security and good health. You need to understand, however, that even faithful children of God are not immune from the bad times.

My advise to you this day is to have David’s attitude, behave yourself wisely in all that you do and in the presence of the people. This time will soon pass. Do not hold grudges against anybody, always look unto God for help and remember it is for your good. The Lord is with you.

Word Affirmation: “And the angel said unto her, Fear not, Mary: for thou hast found favour with God." - Luke 1:30 (Don't just say it, mean it!)
